Standard 7: Planning for Instruction

Reflection
Standard 7 is about planning for instruction, which helps me understand the significance of helping my students meet their learning goals through strategic planning and instruction. In order for me to design lessons that are effective, I must plan lessons that are aligned with state standards; that engage all students; addresses diverse learning modalities, and meets a set of well-established long and short-term goals. The artifact presented shows that I am able to plan an engaging content delivery for my students. Teaching the lesson in the whole group, to partner work, and independently, allowed my students to immerse themselves into the idea of being avid readers. This lesson was a central part of the new reading unit, so it was essential that all my students understood what it meant to be avid readers.
Language Art - Introduction to Avid Readers
Objective: The students will be able to determine what an avid reader looks and acts like by using images to categorize an avid reader and blah reader.
