& Ethical Practices

Reflection
Reflective practice in teaching is arguably one of the most important sources of personal professional development and improvement. Reflections help me develop my skills and review their effectiveness. I question myself on what I did and why I did it and then decide whether there is a better or more efficient way of doing it in the future. As I continue to attend more and more conferences and professional developments, I am able to apply the information to my educational experience. Along with that, in student teaching, we do weekly reflections on things that stood out to us. In these reflections, I try to collect information regarding activities in the classrooms and take the time to analyze them from a distance and I look at the underlying principles and beliefs that define the way that they work. This kind of self-awareness is a powerful ally for a teacher, especially when so much of what and how they teach can change in the moment.
